Zell am See - An unforgettable skiing experience
Many of our guests speak very warmly about the nightlife and the cosiness of the village of Zell am See. But, perhaps even more famous is the neighbouring village of Kaprun with the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, which offers great natural snow and unforgettable skiing all year round at 3000 meters altitude.
This place’s natural beauty is in itself a reason to travel here. Zell am See is situated incredibly beautifully on the shore of Lake Zell, surrounded by high alpine peaks. The ski slopes take you up to and above 3,000 meters elevation, which is unique in Austria. From the Kitzsteinhorn you get incomparable panoramic views of the lake and Austria's highest peak, the Grossglockner. Glacier skiing is included in the lift pass, but Zell am See and neighbouring villages Schüttdorf and Kaprun have even more to entice you with.
Zell am See also offers some of the best for off-piste slopes in the Alps. Snowboarders and other freestylers have several parks with countless jumps, obstacles and rails to choose from. The ski area is awash with cosy comfortable places to eat or drink or just enjoy the sun in one of the lounge chairs. Most hotels are located in convenient walking distance from the lift. The ski area with 138 km of well-prepared slopes offers challenges for all riding styles and skills from the brightest blue to darkest black. And even on the glacier are you will find easy slopes.
Cosy village life
Get the feel of the calm, hospitable and genuine Austrian atmosphere in these alpine villages. Along the village streets and inside the cosy yards there are many quirky shops, cafes, restaurants and bars to discover. After a tiring day on the slopes après ski is a welcoming if not obligatory experience to be made. Don’t miss the après ski in the Dorfschenke, in Schüttdorf. With both local villagers and tourists of all ages drinking frothy beer and singing along to Austrian après ski tunes the atmosphere here is truly the definition of après ski and fun.
If you fancy more partying, the party continues in the bars and clubs well into the not more so early hours of the next day. Zell am See is a perfect choice for those visiting Austria for the first time and out to experience the genuine alpine experience. You will not be disappointed!
